
Eggplant is a common purple vegetable. I. How to Grow Eggplant? What Should You Pay Attention to When Growing Eggplant?
Before planting, choose varieties with strong disease resistance, good temperature tolerance, high yield, and good storage and transportation properties. Higher yields are achieved when planted in sandy soil that is flat, deep, fertile, and has not been continuously planted with solanaceous crops for the past 2-3 years. Eggplant seedlings generally emerge 3-5 days after sowing. After emergence, maintain an environmental temperature of around 22-25℃.
After planting, eggplant yield can be increased through plant management. Eggplant plant management mainly includes pruning, topping, and leaf removal. Pruning methods include single-stem pruning, double-stem pruning, and triple-stem pruning, generally carried out after the first fruit has set. Pinching the top of an eggplant plant involves removing the terminal bud. Leaf removal primarily involves removing old, yellow leaves from the lower and middle parts of the plant.
II. Water and Fertilizer Management for Eggplants: Apply sufficient base fertilizer before transplanting. After transplanting, water thoroughly to help the seedlings establish. Unless the weather is dry, no watering or fertilization is needed from transplanting until the first fruit set. After fruit set, water only when the soil is dry to the touch. When the eggplant enters its fruiting period, increase the water supply, watering every 5-7 days, watering lightly in the morning and evening.
During the eggplant seedling stage, apply mainly farmyard manure. Until flowering, control fertilizer supply and apply appropriate amounts of human and animal manure to help retain flowers and buds.
